Whether it's a national holiday, religious festival, or simply a mandated minimum for paid vacation days, each country has different rules that set the basic threshold of paid time off for employees.Resume.io analyzed paid vacation and paid public holiday laws in every country in the world and created a graphic representation to see the minimum amount of vacation days employees are entitled to, at least on paper.Albania ranks among the average countries along with Denmark, Cyprus, Egypt, Mauritius, South Africa and several countries in Africa, with a total of 34 days off. This includes public holidays and paid days off that employees receive from the company. Albania has 14 days of official public holidays and 20 days of holidays for employees, paid by law (the latter are the days that are defined by law as annual leave, while there is no data on how many of these days are applied, especially in private entities - Note monitor). While Kosovo comes after it, with a total of 31 paid vacation days per year.At the top of the list is Iran with a total of 53 vacation days, split almost equally between public holidays and paid holidays.According to the public holidays map, Albania is among the countries with the most official holidays in Europe, with 14 days in total. The record is held by Iceland (16) and Lithuania and Latvia with 15 each. In the region, Kosovo and Serbia have 11 official holidays each, North Macedonia 12, Bosnia Herzegovina 10 and Montenegro 8. In Europe, Greece has the fewest official holidays. with only 6 days a year. The data in the study focus on two types of paid holidays: public holidays and paid vacation days. Add them together and you have the total amount of paid leave.Several African, European and Central Asian countries, including Togo (43), San Marino (46) and Yemen (45), have been exceptionally generous with holiday days.Meanwhile, others, including the oceanic countries of Micronesia (9) and Nauru (10), rank at the bottom of the list. The United States is tied with Nauru for second last, with workers on just 10 vacation days a year.If you work full-time and devote 40 hours a week to your workplace, many countries believe you deserve time off.In most countries, there are laws in place to provide legal leave for employees. 22 countries have a generous 30-day leave policy, with 10 countries on the African continent. However, the amount of paid leave worldwide often depends on the employee's tenure. And not all countries have the same minimums, as the US, Nauru, Micronesia and Kiribati all have zero days of mandated paid leave. It is important to note that this does not mean that all employees in these countries have zero paid leave. This means it depends on the employer, with some companies using generous paid leave to lure skilled employees, while others offer none.Albania and Kosovo are ranked among the countries that regulate and determine vacation days for employees by law, with about 20 days of paid annual leave, at the same level as the Balkan countries, Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand etc.Countries around the world celebrate public holidays for various occasions. They honor important national, cultural and religious events.Again, the number of these days may vary around the world. Iran offers the largest number of paid public holidays in the world with a total of 27 days a year including Islamic Republic Day. It is followed by Bangladesh (24), Azerbaijan (21) and Cambodia (21).Albania ranks in the middle with 14 days of official holidays, while Kosovo has 11 days.At the other extreme, Libya has no paid public holidays, while Lebanon has only two paid public holidays per year. And not every holiday is an official holiday. For example, despite having an abundance of holidays and days of national significance, India has only three paid national holidays: Republic Day, Independence Day and Mahatma Gandhi's birthday. However, India is also a good example of countries that also offer state-level holidays. Each region of the country has the authority to add to its list of paid holidays, depending on religious, cultural and historical holidays.
