Το μεσημέρι της Πέμπτης 7 Δεκεμβρίου 2023 πραγματοποιήθηκε η τελετή καθομολόγησης (ορκωμοσία) και απονομής πτυχίων σε αποφοίτους του προπτυχιακού προγράμματος σπουδών και των μεταπτυχιακών προγραμμάτων του Τμήματος Περιβάλλοντος του Πανεπιστημίου Αιγαίου. Ορκίστηκαν συνολικά τριάντα πέντε (35) φοιτητές και φοιτήτριες.Κατά τη διάρκεια της τελετής αναγορεύτηκε σε Ομότιμο Καθηγητή ο αφυπηρετήσας Καθηγητής του Τμήματος κύριος Δίας Χαραλαμπόπουλος. Ο κύριος Χαραλαμπόπουλος διορίστηκε ως Επίκουρος Καθηγητής στο Τμήμα Περιβάλλοντος το 1997. Οργάνωσε και δίδαξε για μακρύ χρονικό διάστημα τα μαθήματα που σχετίζονται με την Παραγωγή και τη Διαχείριση της Ενέργειας. Παράλληλα, ανέπτυξε πρωτοπόρα έρευνα σε θέματα ανανεώσιμων πηγών ενέργειας επιβλέποντας σειρά πτυχιακών εργασιών, μεταπτυχιακών και διδακτορικών διατριβών. Ο κύριος Χαραλαμπόπουλος υπήρξε Διευθυντής στο Εργαστήριο Διαχείρισης Ενέργειας του Τμήματος Περιβάλλοντος και Επιστημονικός Υπεύθυνος σε πλήθος ερευνητικών προγραμμάτων που χρηματοδοτήθηκαν από την Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή και εθνικούς πόρους.Κατά τη διάρκεια της τελετής απονεμήθηκαν επίσης Βραβεία Αριστείας σε δώδεκα (12) προπτυχιακούς φοιτητές του Τμήματος Περιβάλλοντος, που οι εργασίες τους δημοσιεύτηκε σε διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά εντός του 2022. Οι βραβευθέντες φοιτητές και φοιτήτριες ήταν:Η κυρία Ταξιαρχούλα - Τζωάννα Χτενέλλη, που σε συνεργασία με τον Καθηγητή κύριο Παναγιώτη Δημητρακόπουλο δημοσίευσε εργασία με τίτλο «The response to fire by two eusocial bee species» στο περιοδικό Ecological Entomology.Η κυρία Μαρία Νομικού, που σε συνεργασία με τον Καθηγητή κύριο Παναγιώτη Δημητρακόπουλο δημοσίευσε εργασία με τίτλο «Exploring local public support for protected areas: What social factors influence stated and active support among local people?» στο περιοδικό Environmental Science & Policy.Η κυρία Κλειώ – Μαρία Γαγάνη, που σε συνεργασία με τον Καθηγητή κύριο Ανδρέα Τρούμπη δημοσίευσε εργασία με τίτλο «Probabilistic wildfire risk assessment and modernization transitions: the case of Greece» στο περιοδικό Fire.O κύριος Χαράλαμπος Σιδερόπουλος, που σε συνεργασία με τον Καθηγητή κύριο Ανδρέα Τρούμπη δημοσίευσε εργασία με τίτλο «Conservation narratives and bibliogrammatic networks in the conservation landscape» στο περιοδικό Environmental Conservation.Ο κύριος Μιχαήλ Δεληγιάννης, που σε συνεργασία με τον Καθηγητή κύριο Αθανάσιο Στασινάκη δημοσίευσε εργασία με τίτλο «Combined use of strictly anaerobic MBBR and aerobic MBR for municipal wastewater treatment and removal of pharmaceuticals» στο περιοδικό Journal of Environmental Management.Η κυρία Μαργαρίτα Κοκκινάκη και ο κύριος Μάριος Σινβάρε, που σε συνεργασία με την Αναπληρώτρια Καθηγήτρια κυρία Όλγα-Ιωάννα Καλαντζή δημοσίευσαν εργασία με τίτλο «Keep Calm and Go Out: Urban Nature Exposure, Mental Health, and Perceived Value during the COVID-19 Lockdown» στο περιοδικό Sustainability.Ο κύριος Παναγιώτης Ξυπολιάς, που σε συνεργασία με τον Αναπληρωτή Καθηγητή κύριο Δημήτριο Λέκκα δημοσίευσε εργασία με τίτλο «Hydrothermal carbonization of dry anaerobic digestion residues derived from food and agro wastes in Lesvos Island» στο περιοδικό Energies.Ο κύριος Δημήτρης Λιάκος, που σε συνεργασία με τον Επίκουρο Καθηγητή κύριο Στέργιο Βακάλη δημοσίευσε εργασία με τίτλο «The role of hydrochar on the production of biogas and volatile fatty acids during anaerobic digestion of cheese whey wastewater» στο περιοδικό Sustainable Chemistry and Pharmacy.Ο κύριος Μιχαήλ Λαγκαδάς, που σε συνεργασία με τον Επίκουρο Καθηγητή κύριο Μιχαήλ Φουντουλάκη δημοσίευσε εργασία με τίτλο «Vertical flow constructed wetlands as green facades and gardens for on-site greywater treatment in buildings: Two-year mesocosm study on removal performance» στο περιοδικό Science of the Total Environment.Ο κύριος Δημήτριος Καλαντζής, που σε συνεργασία με τον Επίκουρο Καθηγητή κύριο Μιχαήλ Φουντουλάκη δημοσίευσε εργασία με τίτλο «Granular activated carbon stimulates biogas production in pilot-scale anaerobic digester treating agro-industrial wastewater» στο περιοδικό Bioresource Technology.Η κυρία Σπυριδούλα Σχίζα, που σε συνεργασία με τον Επίκουρο Καθηγητή κύριο Μιχαήλ Φουντουλάκη δημοσίευσε εργασία με τίτλο «Use of climbing and ornamental plants in vertical flow constructed wetlands treating greywater” στο περιοδικό Journal of Water Process Engineering.Απονεμήθηκε επίσης το Βραβείο Εξαίρετης Διδασκαλίας για το ακαδημαϊκό έτος 2022-2023, στον Επίκουρο Καθηγητή του Τμήματος κύριο Μιχαήλ Φουντουλάκη. Ο κύριος Φουντουλάκης υπηρετεί στο Τμήμα Περιβάλλοντος από το 2018 και διδάσκει τα μαθήματα της Περιβαλλοντικής Βιοτεχνολογίας, της Οικολογικής Μηχανικής και της Αποκατάστασης Ρυπασμένων Οικοσυστημάτων. Κατέχει διδακτορικό δίπλωμα από το Τμήμα Χημικών Μηχανικών του Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών. Στα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα περιλαμβάνονται η αξιοποίηση των αποβλήτων για παραγωγή ενέργειας, η επαναχρησιμοποίηση των υγρών αποβλήτων και η ανάπτυξη φυσικών συστημάτων χαμηλού κόστους για την επεξεργασία επιβαρυμένων υδάτινων απορροών. Αξίζει να σημειωθεί πως το Βραβείο Εξαίρετης Διδασκαλίας απονέμεται στον Διδάσκοντα, που συγκέντρωσε τη μεγαλύτερη βαθμολογία στις αξιολογήσεις των μαθημάτων, που κάνουν οι φοιτητές του Τμήματος κάθε έτος.Χαιρετισμό απηύθυναν στην αρχή της εκδήλωσης ο Αντιπρύτανης Διεθνοποίησης, Εξωστρέφειας και Φοιτητικής Μέριμνας Καθηγητής Ευστράτιος Γεωργούλας, ο Κοσμήτορας της Σχολής Περιβάλλοντος Καθηγητής Παναγιώτης Δημητρακόπουλος, ο Πρόεδρος του Τμήματος Περιβάλλοντος Καθηγητής Αθανάσιος Στασινάκης και η εκπρόσωπος του Συλλόγου Αποφοίτων Πανεπιστημίου Αιγαίου Ευθυμία Λεζγκίδου. Την παρουσίαση του έργου του Ομότιμου Καθηγητή Δία Χαραλαμπόπουλου έκανε ο Καθηγητής του Τμήματος Περιβάλλοντος Χριστόδουλος Πηλίνης.
