In the context of the Action "Coastal erosion due to climate change: assessment and ways of effective treatment in tourist areas of the Northern Aegean and Cyprus - BEACHTECH" financed by the Cooperation Program INTERREGV-A Greece-Cyprus 2014-2020, was carried out with a large participation of the Municipality Peyias in Cyprus Conference for the presentation of the results of the Practice. During the conference, the findings of the BEACHTECH research project were presented in relation to the issues of coastal erosion on selected beaches of Lesvos, Chios and Cyprus, mainly emphasizing the field work and the results obtained for the wider area of the Municipality of Peyia and the pilot study beach of Coral Bay (CoralBay). The publicity actions of the Beachtech Operation were presented by the Director of PTAVA Mr. I. Kadis in collaboration with Mr. G. Hatzargyros (development & planning advisor of PTAVA). The Conference organized by the Municipality of Peyia was attended by officials of the Regional Development Fund of the North Aegean (PTAVA), the Department of Oceanography & Marine Life Sciences of the University of the Aegean (TOTHBE) and the Cyprus University of Technology (TEPAK). The Mayor of Peyia, Mr. Marinos Lambrou, addressed the conference. The conference was attended by executives from Cyprus agencies and services, such as from the Paphos District Administration, the Department of Water Development, the Department of the Environment, the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research, the Municipality of Polis Chrysochous, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, the Department of Urban Planning of Paphos, etc.. After the presentations, a fruitful discussion followed in relation to coastal erosion in Cyprus in general, but also to the consequences of climate change.
