Demonstrators in Dhaka climbed atop a large statue of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's father, independence leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and damaged the statue in an attempt to tear it down. THE prime minister resigned and fled the country while more people were killed in some of the worst violence since the birth of the South Asian nation more than fifty years ago.
