As Albania advances toward European Union accession, strengthening its legal and policy frameworks is both a necessity and an opportunity to foster a more enabling environment for civic participation and social investment. Among the reforms that can make a lasting difference is the modernization of the 1994 Sponsorship Law - a law that, while fit for its time, no longer reflects the realities of a modern economy or the role that the private sector can play in driving sustainable development and social good. A forward looking sponsorship framework can serve as a catalyst for channeling business resources, financial, material, and skills-based into areas of public benefit, with a special emphasis on improving the lives of children. UNICEF recognizes the importance of this reform in the context of Albania’s EU accession path and welcomes the leadership shown by the members of its Business Advisory Board in placing this high on the agenda. With UNICEF’s facilitation and technical expertise, this collective effort demonstrates how public[1]private dialogue can advance national priorities that align with European standards and global good practice.
