Victorian Minister Steve Dimopoulos tables plan to bring national teams together again, EPO says idea welcomed but no date set

Σύνταξη:Ανδρονίκη ΚουτσαβλήΟ Περιφερειάρχης Βορείου Αιγαίου Κωνσταντίνος Μουτζούρης υπέγραψε στις 23-07-2025 την διακήρυξη της δημοπρατήσεως του έργουΟΔΙΚΟΣ ΑΞΟΝΑΣ ΚΑΛΛΟΝΗΣ-ΠΕΤΡΑΣ(Α΄ ΦΑΣΗ) με προϋπολογισμό 22.800.000 €.Όπως σημειώνεται χαρακτηριστικά  στο δελτίο Τύπου πρόκειται για ένα  σημαντικότατο έργο της Λέσβου, το οποίο έπρεπε να είχε κατασκευασθεί προ τριάντα ετών, και πλέον εισέρχεται σε τελική φάση υλοποιήσεως του.«Η Περιφέρειαεξαναγκάστηκε να προβεί σε νέα μελέτηγια το έργο, παρά το ότι είχε ανατεθεί σε ανάδοχο κατασκευή του το 2021 η αρχική μελέτη του, επειδή δύο Διευθύνσεις του ίδιου Υπουργείου, χωρίς συντονισμό μεταξύ τους, εξεπόνησαν μελέτες δυο διαφορετικών έργων (υπόψη οδός, φράγμα Τσικνιά) αλληλεμπλεκόμενες.!»αναφέρεται χαρακτηριστικά.Σημειώνεται ότι στις 30-06-2025 εγκρίθηκαν από την προϊσταμένη της Διεύθυνσης Τεχνικών Έργων της Περιφερειακής Ενότητας Λέσβου τα τροποποιημένα τεύχη δημοπράτησης του έργου π/υ 22.800.000 ευρώ.  Σημειώνεται ότι το προηγούμενο κόστος της πράξης – πριν την τροποποιητική μελέτη- ανερχόταν, σύμφωνα με την απόφαση ένταξης της 27/11/2023 στο πρόγραμμα «Βόρειο Αιγαίο», σε π/υ της τάξεως των 20.985.821,10 ευρώ.Διευκρινίζεται ότι η μελέτη τροποποίησης σύμφωνα με τις σχετικές αποφάσεις αντιστοιχεί σε τμήμα μήκους περίπου 4 χλμ (~ Χ.Θ 1+000 έως ~ Χ.Θ. 5+000). Η τροποποίηση της οριστικής μελέτης οδικών έργων (οδοποιίας και ισόπεδων κόμβων) περιλαμβάνει δύο τετρασκελείς κόμβους (Ισόπεδος κόμβος Κ2 και Ισόπεδος Κόμβος Κ3) επί της νέας χάραξης .Περιληπτικά το  έργο αφορά στην βελτίωση του οδικού άξονα Καλλονής – Πέτρας που συνδέει την πρωτεύουσα του νησιού, Μυτιλήνη, μέσω της Καλλονής, με τους δημοφιλέστερους τουριστικούς προορισμούς του νησιού, την Πέτρα και τη Μήθυμνα. Στόχος είναι να αυξηθεί η κυκλοφορική ικανότητα και να βελτιωθεί η οδική ασφάλεια, δεδομένου ότι ο υφιστάμενος οδικός άξονας έχει ανεπαρκή γεωμετρικά και λειτουργικά χαρακτηριστικά.Υπενθυμίζεται πως σε πρόσφατοερώτημα του «Ε»για τον προγραμματισμό της Β Φάσης του έργου ο Περιφερειάρχης απάντησε:«Αυτό που προβλέπει η εργολαβία αυτή, που είχε ξεκινήσει από παλιά – εμείς το βρήκαμε το θέμα – θα γίνει  ο δρόμος από την Αγία Παρασκευή μέχρι την Στύψη, που  θα συνεχιστεί και από την άλλη μεριά του βουνού μέχρι την Πέτρα, είναι μέσα στην εργολαβία και θα μένει το τούνελ να διαπεράσει το βουνό – το οποίο θα το επιλύσουμε – δεν υπάρχει μελέτη θα την κάνουμε για να είναι πλήρης ο δρόμος».Moutzouris: The Region was forced to conduct a new studyTender launched for the Kalloni – Petra road axis (Phase A)ByAndroniki KoutsavliOn July 23, 2025, the Regional Governor of the North Aegean, Konstantinos Moutzouris, signed the tender proclamation for the projectKALLONI–PETRA ROAD AXIS (PHASE A),with a budget of €22,800,000.As stated in the press release, this is a very important project for Lesvos, which should have been constructed thirty years ago, and it is now entering its final implementation phase.“The Region was forced to carry out a new studyfor the project, even though its construction had been assigned to a contractor in 2021 based on the original study, because two Directorates of the same Ministry, without coordination between them, prepared studies for two different and overlapping projects (the road in question and the Tsiknias dam),”it specifically notes.It is further noted that on June 30, 2025, the modified tender documents for the project with a budget of €22,800,000 were approved by the head of the Directorate of Technical Works of the Regional Unit of Lesvos. The previous cost of the project – prior to the amended study – amounted to €20,985,821.10, according to the inclusion decision dated November 27, 2023, in the “North Aegean” program.It is clarified that the amended study, according to the relevant decisions, concerns a section of approximately 4 km in length (from approx. chainage 1+000 to approx. 5+000). The modification of the final roadworks study (including road construction and at-grade junctions) includes two four-leg at-grade intersections (Junction K2 and Junction K3) on the new alignment.In summary, the project concerns the improvement of the Kalloni–Petra road axis, which connects the island’s capital, Mytilene, via Kalloni, with two of its most popular tourist destinations, Petra and Molyvos (Mithymna). The goal is to increase traffic capacity and improve road safety, given that the existing road has inadequate geometric and functional characteristics.It is also reminded that, in response to a recent question from the newspaper “E” regarding the planning of Phase B of the project, the Regional Governor answered:“What is foreseen in this contract, which had started long ago – we inherited the matter – is that the road from Agia Paraskevi to Stypsi will be built, and it will continue on the other side of the mountain to Petra. This is included in the contract, and the only remaining part is the tunnel that will cross through the mountain – which we will resolve – there is no study yet, but we will carry one out in order for the road to be completed in full.”
