International Children's Day will be celebrated this year on Sunday, November 20, with the aim of promoting international cohesion and well-being among children around the world. This day also marks the date on which the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention and Declaration on the Rights of the Child. In view of the celebration, the Council of Europe as part of its program "Digital Citizenship Education" [1]), translated children's rights into actions for parents and teachers to help children understand their rights and responsibilities at every moment of their lives. As part of the tourism promotion, the North Aegean Region will participate in the international tourism exhibition World Travel Market (WTM) 2022, which will take place on November 7-9 in London. The migration of birds is one of the most impressive phenomena of nature and one of the reasons why they have attracted the interest and love of man in every corner of the Earth. Every Autumn (and Spring) billions of birds travel to (from) the areas where they will spend the Winter making their passage felt by bird watchers and not only. Twice a year (May and October), under the auspices of the UN, events are organized to observe the migration of birds and the title "World Migratory Bird Day" (World Migratory Bird Day) all over the world. Lesvos, which has recognized by UNESCO as a World Geopark, had its own participation on the world map of events with two excursions: an afternoon to Aliki Kallonis (Saturday 8/10) and a morning to Aliki Polychnitou (Sunday 9/10) with the aim of observing the autumn migration to the wetlands of the island. The excursions were open to all ages and the participants got to know the world of birds with the help of special equipment (binoculars, telescopes). The most special recordings were of a Great Hornbill and two Rose Pelicans (among the relatively common Silver Pelicans for Autumn), in Aliki Kallonis and an Osprey in Aliki Polychnitou, species that are recorded on our island exclusively passing through. Other species that the participants had the opportunity to meet were black storks, silver egrets, white egrets, puffins, cormorants, avocets, red stilts, tourlids, etc. the monitoring of the birds and the wetlands of the area. And these events are part of the excursions to ecologically important areas of Western Lesvos with the theme "Wetlands of Western Lesvos - nature excursions" with the aim of informing and raising awareness of the residents about the ecological and environmental value of wetlands and is co-organized by the Museum of Natural History of the Lesvos Petrified Forest, the North Aegean Region and the Municipality of West Lesvos.
