He climbs the stairs and stands up, 'paws' on the colored majolica tiles on the floor and catches the eye of tourists: a hi-tech robot dog appears in Ischia. It happens at the Hermitage Resort & Thermal SPA, but tourism professions are not at risk (for now). Rather, it is a demonstration within the fifth "International Symposium on Dynamic Response and Failure of Composite Materials", organized from 17 to 21 June on the island by Valentina Lopresto, who teaches at the Department of Chemical, Materials and Production Engineering Industrialist of Federico II (among the guests also astronaut Walter Villanie). The robot dog is called Go2 and produced by the Chinese Unitree: the basic machine costs around 4000 euros, the one exhibited in Ischia reaches 18 thousand. “From surveillance to rescue, from research to the exploration of hostile environments, where it is appropriate to replace man, reducing risks, up to the exploration of buildings at risk of collapse or earthquakes: its potential is infinite”, explains Pietro Cozzolino, CEO of Martec, the company that deals with the distribution of the robot dog in Italy. Among the companies involved is also Asìa, the company that deals with waste management in Naples.
